The Official Flag Wavers of Florence

The Bandierai degli Uffizi are Florence’s official flag-waving group, representing one of the city’s most distinctive living traditions.

Founded in 1973, the group preserves and performs the historic art of Florentine flag-waving for audiences in Italy and around the world.

Recognized by Florence, Tuscany and Italy

For more than five decades, the Bandierai degli Uffizi have been recognized for their cultural and civic role through important national, regional and local honours.

The Bandierai degli Uffizi have performed at major international events, including the celebrations surrounding Scuderia Ferrari’s 1000th Grand Prix, bringing the colours and traditions of Florence to a global audience.

A Tradition with an International History

Their international journey goes back decades. In 1986, the Bandierai degli Uffizi took part in the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup in Mexico City, presenting the Florentine flag-waving tradition on one of the world’s largest sporting stages.
